Rainbow Window Building Blocks for Shape & Light Play
Build colourful towers and explore light with geometric blocks featuring wood-look frames and translucent coloured centres. The photos show circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, and semicircles for stacking, arranging, and sorting. Light passing through the panels creates colourful shapes on the surrounding surface.
How to play
Choose a few blocks and build a small tower or arrange a flat picture together. Sort pieces by shape or colour, copy a simple arrangement, or place them where daylight passes through the panels to explore coloured shadows. Take turns adding one piece and see how the structure changes.
Skills to practise through play
- Recognising and sorting colours and geometric shapes.
- Picking up, positioning, and balancing blocks.
- Copying simple arrangements and exploring spatial relationships.
- Requesting pieces, making choices, and taking turns.
Why I recommend this as an ABA therapist
I recommend these blocks because they provide concrete materials for colour and shape identification, sorting, and construction imitation. I can demonstrate a two-block arrangement, adjust the number of choices, and introduce instructions such as “put the triangle on top.” Shared building also creates opportunities to request a preferred piece, ask for help, and take turns.
I select activities around each learner's goals, abilities, and interests, keeping participation voluntary. Follow the manufacturer's age and safety guidance and supervise stacking activities as needed.
